Our Story

In July of 2015, Ballroom Connection became a legal entity. Brian Lee and Cheryl Hansen joined forces to open a beautiful, spacious, state-of-the-art dance studio in the Verona/Oakmont area. The response by the community has been wonderful and welcoming!

As a former student of Brian's, Cheryl approached him with an offer to merge talents and expand to a larger studio closer to the Pittsburgh area. For months, they worked diligently to create an aesthetically pleasing space for their students to escape life's hassles and just dance!

Brian and Cheryl share a strong sense of dedication to helping their students grow and excel. They have many fresh and creative ideas and are excited to launch them to the community and their students.

The primary purpose for Ballroom Connection is to provide a beautiful space for group lessons, private lessons and social dances. Brian and Cheryl look forward to offering a variety of ballroom dance classes, themed dance parties, ethnic dances, fitness classes, weekend workshops and other special events.

The Ballroom Connection space is also available as a small venue for your special event such as: anniversary parties, bridal/baby showers, children's themed birthday parties, etc.

All about Cheryl

Cheryl started learning dance in her middle school years. She took acrobatics, gymnastics and tap dance classes. Although Cheryl is new to the Ballroom community, what she lacks in time, she makes up for in determination and her love of dance. Cheryl began taking some Swing, Charleston/Lindy Hop and ballroom classes several years ago and picked it up quickly. Because of her age, Cheryl admits she didn't want to take years and years to learn, so she heavily pursued taking private lessons from various professional instructors multiple times/week while attending every group lesson she could find. She has attended BYU adult ballroom dance camp and has competed in 3 Ballroom dance competitions, as well as multiple showcase dances. She has also received several hours of private coaching from national and international ballroom dance professionals throughout the country.

Cheryl has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and has begun pursuing her Master's Degree. Throughout her career, Cheryl has held management/leadership positions, but her forte is in instructing and training. She has worked around the country teaching physicians, nurses, technologists and other professional staff and was sought out and hired by a Fortune 500 company for her proficiency in training and her attention to detail.

Cheryl has a strong business sense and looks for opportunities to expand and grow. She saw an opportunity to take her dance passion and combine it with her education/experience and partner with Brian Lee, one of her former social dance instructors. Cheryl enjoys focusing on style and technique. Her goal is to make dance lessons interactive and state-of-the-art to create a visually conducive learning environment for dance students of all levels. Cheryl focuses on the health benefits of dance also by offering dancersize (dance/exercise) classes. She is a certified Zumba instructor and believes wholeheartedly that dancing will help you: de-stress, get fit and have FUN!
